Sony stated they are close to having a hundred movies that boasts of 4K resolution. The movies are either shot in native 4k or, as the majority of them are, have been re-mastered in 4K. ‘Sony’s upcoming After Earth and Smurfs 2, shot with Sony’s F65 4K camera; restored films, such as Lawrence of Arabia; and movies lensed on 35mm film and scanned in 4K for finishing, including Moneyball and upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, director Marc Webb’s sequel to his 2012 film,’ are some of the examples that Sony Pictures Technologies president Chris Cookson mentioned are among the movies that make the 100 that Sony cited.

Sony’s F55 and F5 are the latest 4K cameras that the company has come up with. F55 has also been put to use to shoot the pilots of titles such as Black List, Rake, and Gaffigan for Sony Pictures Television. Al of this is important as the 4K TVs have arrived but is without much content to watch on it right now. Needless to say such efforts will play an important role in filling that gaping void while also adding to the appeal of 4K TVs as well.
