Vizio Launches 58 Inch 21.9 Ratio 3D TV In The US
One of the disturbing factors when viewing an anamorphic movie in 3D are the black bars that occur at the top and bottom of the screen. Vizio, America’s largest TV maker claims to have got around this problem in the latest LED based 3D TV offering — the Vizio XVT3D580CM. The way they have gone about resolving this issue with their 58 inch set is by changing the aspect ratio to 21:9. All other TV sets come in 16:9 ratio. The 21:9 aspect ratio would however need those movies produced in Hollywood where they are shot in ultra-widescreen would have to be zoomed in or seen in letterbox format.
Other features of the Vizio TV set under discussion are its 1,00,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, the Edge Lit Razor LED backlit feature, the sound system which is based on the SRS StudioSound HDTM audio technology, the built in Wi-Fi and the 1.07 billion, 10 bit color.
The set produces high contrast detail, which it achieves with its SmartDimming technology augmented by the 2560 x 1080p screen resolution and the Edge Lit Razor LED technology.
Chief Technology Officer at VIZIO, Matt McRae said “As the first to bring a 21:9 aspect ratio, ultra-wide screen 3D HDTV of its kind to the U.S. market, we’re proud to be giving consumers the opportunity to view movies the way they were meant to be enjoyed. Not only does the Cinemawide HDTV eliminate the black bars, it also allows movie and tech enthusiasts to get the most out of their HD and 3D experiences with excellent picture quality and VIZIO Internet Apps.”
Another disconcerting issue that viewers experience with 3D TV sets is the flicker effect and the dimming effect one experiences after wearing the 3D viewing glasses. The Vizio model under discussion, with its Theatre 3D technology is able to counter both these issues so that its brighter and crisper images that users get to have in the end.
Those interested in buying this set need to head over to VIZIO.com which is currently the place to procure the 3D TV. The 3D TV is currently priced at $2499 or £1600.
