The leading figures coming from the segment point out the year ahead is going to be a vital one for 3D TVs.

Sky this year would not be airing the Football Championships of Europe as it has lost its right to do so. It would not even air the Olympics that is to be held in London this very year. However broadcasting these shows can boost up the business as the time has come when the manufacturers have finally decided to decrease the price of the television sets equipped with 3D technologies, said John Cassy the director of 3D.

He revealed during an interview that the broadcasting of even one of the sports event using the 3D technology would bring in huge profits. However the prices of 3D TVs would still decrease.

As many as 1.8 million 3D TV sets would be sold if everything goes as per the expectations. This would provide the broadcasting firms with ample opportunity to build up their business revenues.

“The period of next twelve months would decide the fate of the technology,” said Jon Lee, technical director at 3D specialist BTV Post.

He also said that presently there is huge void in between high budget films and documentary 3D and volume stereo 3D programming. We have to fill in the interstices first. The customers are not to be left alone dodging with the scanty content available.
