When Sony announced that it would soon release a 3D TV for the third version of Play station the gaming world wasn’t much impressed. However, that effect didn’t last long as this new project of Sony was applauded. The set comes equipped with Simulview ability i.e. its not only capable of displaying 3D content but is also capable of allowing two players play at the same time sitting together but looking at different images through their 3D spectacles. That is simply awesome.

The TV came with a 24 inch display and could be purchased for $499. The game lovers can utilize its two HDMI ports for playing their favorite games and Blu-Ray disks. However, there sure are a lot of queries that must me lingering in your mind such as – Is the widescreen 1080p monitor worth having? Is it necessary for the non game lovers as well? To know continue reading.

Firstly the retailers have to agree and accept that they sell this product buy putting a load of pressure on them. However the product is worth having.

The 3D TV has two HDMI ports and stereo inputs apart from the component jacks on its sides. Stereo headphone jack is also available. The presence of control buttons at the right hand side permits all those who enjoy pricking into new areas adventurously while playing the gadget.

Though the set lacks a VGA or DVI jack the pure play monitor makes up for it. Pair of 3D specs, one HDMI cable and a copy of MotorStorm: Apocalypse come compatible with the TV set. However the set lacks remote control and a TV tuner.

The price of the 3D TV is fixed at $500 while Amazon and Wal-Mart is selling the same for as low as $399. They have made this reduction keeping the game lovers in mind.

As far as display is concerned, its definitely appreciable whether it be on 2D and 3D modes. A few games and Blu- ray disks played well too in it and one can keep watching it. The television boasts of stereo speakers with subwoofer, LED backlighting apart from a bright 1920 × 1080 pixel screen.

Also, it is damn easy to set up the set. Just plug in the HDMI cable and turn on the power. There are some modes that help to jump from the two dimensional to the three dimensional very confidently. The thing that gets the lovers on their nerves is when they have to find a game for them. You would then need a list of games which can support three dimensional images.

The games are quite appreciable though might look a bit dull but with time this fault seems to disappear. The quick refresh rate ensures that the 3D images are displayed with deep clarity. The credit goes not only to the graphics processor but to the display as well.

However, on the flip side, the 3D TV possesses a very glossy screen as a result of which lot of light rays are reflected. This is hardly seen in the marketing products. Good shots in the wild can hardly be obtained. Fingerprints make their way on the screen very easily.

Also, putting the audio buttons all on the body of the 3D TV was not a good idea as a remote could have done a better job.

Though the display of the 3D TV is good the price at which it has been rated ($500) is too high. Sony can however justify the price as it has designed this product exclusively for the game lovers.

In conclusion, what can be said is that you can actually get a tuner built in non three dimensional 24- inch television for a price that would be quite lower than $500. The prices have been lowered to $400 now though the set has however been developed for playing games. A simple TV can never replace it nor is it capable enough to be known as the 3D monitor. It is more or less developed for the sake of gaming or rather three dimensional gaming.

Now the question which arises is that is it really worth paying? It is useful for only those who have a pal and a mini living room. The Simulview feature would come to their use and both of them enjoy spending time together gaming as the screen would provide them with 1080p content beautifully. You won’t actually notice the flaws if you continuously watch HD videos and keep playing.

This set does not suit all. It is exclusively for the gaming freaks who wish to game lying on their beds or sitting cozily in their dorm rooms. They should be the ones to rush to the stores and pick up this clever, cool, and ultra-thin display.
