Sisvel Technology showcases 3D TV tile format at electronicAsia

A demonstration of its 3D TV Tile Format was showcased by Sisvel Technology from Hong Kong at the ElectronicAsia event that is going on for this week. The company has collaborated with BLT professional panelizer, a Utah Scientific mixer to develop technology which permits them to switch between stereoscopic cameras, and an H.264 encoder from Motorola. At the event these items were up on display for the visitors.
For the receiving end, the technology requires a ST7108 based set top box which has been developed by Antik Technology. One could also use a Vestel TV set for the same as both have the ability to decode the 3D Tile Format that the data is being transmitted.
Paolo D’Amato, CEO of Sisvel Technology said: “The advantages of the 3D Tile Format in bandwidth efficiency, picture quality, and backwards compatibility with 2D are so strong that any broadcaster currently operating in 3D, or considering a 3D service, should definitely put Sisvel Technology at the top of the must-see list for electronicAsia.”
The 3D Tile Format is being used by many broadcasters in Italy. There is also a channel dedicated for 3D Tile all across Europe from SES Astra Satellite on 19.2 deg. East.
There is also a syndicate formed by Italian Broadcasters Quartarete and Città Digitali for the 3D HD content that they are broadcasting in the Piedmont and Tuscany regions of Italy and which is open to other members who wish to join in and therefore share their content too amongst each other of this syndicate.
