Adoption of 3D TV has been hampered mainly due to the poor content that Hollywood studios has been churning out. This is what has been hampering 3D TV sales as per a senior official from Japanese TV manufacturer Panasonic. He opines that content has been very horridly prepared by Hollywood just to grab profit without care for consumer desire for standard that they expected from the 3D format.

Hollywood movie studio have inundated the cinema halls with 3D version of some of their blockbusters at an early stage even while the technology had not been perfected upon. This has led to consumers having a negative effect on this format and now this is hitting the sales of 3D TVs. This opinion was voiced by Panasonic UK’s marketing director Andrew Denham. Confidence of the user has been affected due to the low quality products that Hollywood showed and this is what has affected the sale of 3D TV sets now.

He was speaking at the Intellect Consumer Electronics Conference 2011 in London last week. He emphasized the need for offering high-quality tri-dimensional content. As per him consumers when watching 3D expected much higher quality of pictures that they viewed. After the success of Avatar he said other movies that came in a big rush were all low quality and with this customer faith in 3D standards ebbed. He said, “What we need now is the next level, the next Avatar. And that’s a big ask, I think.”

This same opinion was voiced even by Sky 3D’s channel director John Cassy who mentioned that making of bad content was an easy task. The story and theme etc all were the most important factors that should have been taken into consideration while making 3D movies as per him. Both of them point the finger of blame on Hollywood for the poor take off status of 3D technology and specially so in the TV market.
