Orange TV launches world’s first dedicated 3D magazine — 3DMag

The world of 3D viewing is soon going to be getting a further shot in the arms with the efforts of France based IPTV platform Orange that is all set to offer a TV Magazine which is being shot in stereoscopic 3D.
This would be the first such TV program that would be dedicated solely for 3D technology and its updates with reference to France. The program named Mag3D would take up a half hour slot and being produced in association with Troisième Œil Productions to inform viewers on topics that range from film releases, sports events, documentaries and video games.
Orange further adds that viewers would get firsthand experience of the visual aspects thru this program which makes it both an interesting and impressive program to watch.
For people who have an HD enabled 3D TV set, and are also a subscriber to Orange high-speed broadband service the channel 30 would be available to them from 28th November for this exclusive program. Connecting to the 3D TV would be required using fiber optics, IPTV or satellite. The channel would also be available for PC users or mobile device users free of charge. Orange had telecasted the Roland-Garros French International Tennis Open, in 2008 which marked its first foray into 3D field. Having thus tasted success, they have gone on to get its viewers events like Premier League football and the World Surfing Championships or for that matter Albert de Monaco’s wedding also in 3D format.
Orange has currently a subscriber base of 15,000 for its 3D programs. They have plans to push this up as there are the IPTV providers also who are doing the same for their services. After all this the sales of 3D sets in France have yet to show a positive intent with just 150,000 3D TV sets sold in 2010, and 900,000 expected in 2011
