A new ultra thin 3D TV has been launched by LG Electronics of South Korea based on a technology named “nano” lighting that has helped them achieve an extremely thin form for the 3D TV. And they have set themselves ambitious sales target of selling 3 million units or thereabouts by the end of next year and they plan to achieve this target sales figure by selling their product in Korea and Germany from September this year.

So what’s the “nano” lighting all about. LG Electronics explained that at the recently held 2010 Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin. As per them, the technology termed “nano” lighting enables the light emitting diodes to be placed directly against the panel, and this in turn helps to spread the light evenly as also making the product thinner in dimensions. The Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin is the event where the world’s largest variety of electronics items come for display.

Meanwhile, LG is the second largest LCD display TV maker in the electronic market. They come close at the heels of their domestic rival Samsung Electronics Co. The latest LG 3D TV is among the thinnest around, being only 8.8 mm in depth. Apart from being 3D capable, the TVs will also have the provision for the viewer to view online content which includes Web albums and conduct video calling.

They have plans to sell 29 million flat screen TV this year and this would include the 7 million LCD TV sets which would have LED backlight and another 4 million plasma TV sets.
