When it comes to developing glass free 3D TV sets or technology LG is leading the way as of now. They have recently unveiled a 20 inch D2000 monitor which uses eye tracking technology making it the first of its type. The technology helps in obtaining best 3D image irrespective of viewing angle.

Vice President of the Monitor Division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company, Si-hwan Park said, “With a full line-up of 3D TVs, laptops, projectors and smartphones, LG Electronics is by far and away the industry leader in all things 3D. LG’s position has al-ways been that 3D will and must eventually function without glasses. The D2000 is a look at what the future has in store.”

The D2000′s display has been incorporated with glasses free parallax barrier 3D technology while also being incorporated with the world’s first eye-tracking feature. New horizons have been opened up with the incorporation of both the parallax barrier and eye tracking features in the same set as per LG.

The glasses free 3D technology that finds application on 3D TV sets now impose strict restriction for them to enjoy optimum 3D viewing experience. For instance, they require viewers to be standing only at a certain fixed viewing angle which are often quite narrow and that too at a particular distance for best 3D viewing pleasure. With the technology that LG have now come out with, this issue they claim is resolved with much greater freedom in the viewing angle being given to the viewer. This they claim is achieved by a camera sensor placed atop the set that tracks the viewers eye position in real time. The display image on the screen is thereafter adjusted by software based on this input from the camera that detects the eye position.

The D2000 also has a highly refined 2D to 3D conversion feature and this adds greater excitement to the existing movies and game play.

Availability of the D2000 has been scheduled for this month in the Korean market and for the rest of the world LG has indicated the same to be available in the latter part of 2011.
