Dolby 3D Joins Hands With CPG to Bring Glasses Free 3D TV to the Home Entertainment Scene
Dolby Laboratories and Philips Electronics has entered into a collaboration with the CAMERON | PACE Group (CPG) as a result of which Dolby 3D format will now be integrated into the CPG 3D video content production process.
“James Cameron broke new ground in entertainment with his use of 3D in film, but it’s been a challenge to bring his vision to the home and to smartphones and tablets,” said Vince Pace, Founder and Co-chairman, CPG. “The Dolby 3D format gives filmmakers the means to bring an artistic vision through production and distribution all the way to presentation, while delivering what we believe to be the best possible 3D experience to consumers—without the need for special glasses.”
The collaboration can be considered to be the outcome of the common belief among all the parties concerned about the huge stride that glasses free 3D TV can bring in the home entertainment scene using the Dolby 3D format to deliver ‘premium-quality autostereoscopic 3D content’.

Dolby 3D comprises of a host of cutting edge technologies that allows for content creation, delivery as well as playback on a glasses free 3D platform. The biggest plus with the Dolby 3D tech, apart from negating the use of special 3D glasses is that it does away with a specific angle of view. What this means is that there is no narrow spots within which one has to be confined to get the best possible 3D experience. Instead, Dolby 3D allows for the sharpest 3D views no matter where they are seated in front of the TV.
Dolby will be showcasing 3D content from CPG at its booth at NAB 2013 .
