After 3D TV, Its Now 3D Sound Coming Our Way
BBC is on a project that would when it succeeds bring us 3D sound by its radio program. The project is a join collaboration of BBC with R&D. The sound the listener would experience would make it seem coming from all directions and that includes the top and the bottom as well, using the human ear and headphones or speakers to emulate this tri dimensional sound effect.
If completed it would be a completely new innovation and will add a whole new dimension to the 3D picture or video that we have come across so far.
In the words of Frank Melchior while speaking to the Telegraph, “We want to deliver a new experience to the audience that gives them more immersion and involvement in the content. We also have to make sure we are flexible enough in the delivery of this content. It has to sound OK on headphones as well as on speakers.”
The options being looked at by the team are many and one of them is that of merging individual sound related technologies to get the tridimensional effect.
Needless to say one of the best possible uses of this technology would be to go with 3D TV.
