3D TV rocks, even if it means wearing special glasses

As on date there have been some 30 movies in 3D format that have been released and by the year end we can expect to see a dozen more of them. Needless to say, this heralds good news for stores like Sioux City and its owner Vance Pflanz who sells 3D TVs.
He says, “We’ve been selling 3D TVs for a while but there wasn’t really a lot of content to watch. Now, there’s an increasing push for more 3D content and the public’s been responding.”
He contends that the experience of watching a 3D movie within the comforts of one’s own room is way better than that of watching the same in a movie hall.
In his words, “When you’re watching a 3D movie in the theater, they’re using a form of passive 3D,” he said. “Wearing their glasses, audiences are seeing the screen that’s been filtered with alternating horizontal and vertical stripes, separated by black, picture-blanking bars. Many of the 3D glasses for home television are 1080p. 1080p is shorthand for a set of high definition video modes that are characterized by 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution, which means the images you’ll receive are much more crisp and life-like.”
Planz also has some 3D glasses which are quite different from the ones we get in the market in that they can be recharged by connecting it to a PC via the supplied USB cable.
One can also get DirectTV service on the sets they have on sale in which case one gets four dedicated 3D channels. Pflanz informs his customers of this as well as the fact that the content is indeed growing.
In lighter vein he adds, “I just watched the Little League World Series in 3D. To say that I felt like I was in the stadium doesn’t do justice to the technology. Heck, I felt like I was right in the pitcher’s mound.”
The price and capability of the 3D sets is also growing as per him given the fact that there are and is going to be more of the screens which are 92 inches by size.
Pflanz also stated: “There really isn’t any typical 3D TV buyer. It can be the sports fan who wants to see his games in 3D or the guy who wants to share 3D with his kids or it may be the married couple who want to have the ‘wow’ factor in their homes. These sets will absolutely make you say ‘wow!’”
