The DLP TV from Samsung may appear to be a leap ahead of time in the field of technology for its owners. The DLP TV had been capable of streaming 3D content right since its inception in 2007. There was however a dearth or rather absence of 3D content for the TV till recently times.

There has been a set top box that is made by Mitsubishi which is supposed to have the ability to convert 3D input content to the required output for display on the Mitsubishi DLP TV. There was speculation that this set top box would be compatible for the Samsung DLP TV as well. This speculation has been turned wrong. There is the next expected or announced technology being made by Tru3D which is expected to work on the Samsung DLP TV.

The set top box called Tru3D is a 3D adapter kit which has a Mitsubishi 3DA-1 adapter along with an HDMI toll which is an EDID “spoofer”. This is the main component that allows the Mitsubishi 3D convertor to be compatible for the Samsung TV. The HDMI kit has the technology within it such that the convertor box considers itself to be connected to a Mitsubishi set. The HDMI kit in short simulates a Mitsubishi TV set. The cost of this kit is $319.99.

The kit is plug_and_play as claimed by the company and excepting for the Samsung DLP models ending with “75s” the balance all would be compatible and recognized by the kit as soon as it is connected. The kit could be used for connecting the Sony PlayStation 3, Blu-ray 3D players, Microsoft Xbox 360 and HD set top boxes offered by Comcast, DIRECTV, AT&T Uverse, Verizon FIOS, BrightHouse Networks, SKY and others to the Samsung DLP set. DLP Link certified active 3D eyewear is required to view the 3D content and this is not supplied along with the adapter kit.
